June 19 Sheila and Amanda formed DALA soon after their first meeting in their high school music class. In the summer of 2005 these best friends signed a major label deal with Universal Music Canada and their debut album 'Angels and Thieves' was released that same year. With vocal harmonies guaranteed to give you chills, the girls also make use of their talents on guitar and piano to create their unique brand of acoustic pop. Dala has won over audiences at festivals across the country, and their fun and energetic stage presence made them a hit on their recent tour opening for Canadian legend Tom Cochrane. |

June 20 The Undesirables are a refreshing and infectious songwriting duo who kick out heat like an old woodstove. Guitarist/harmonist Sean Cotton and lyricist/singer Corin Raymond deliver a brand new vibe with roots clout. Creaking Tree String Quartet Andrew Collins - mandolin String-band music has long been a staple of Americana. While the four members of Toronto's Creaking Tree String Quartet pay homage to that tradition, they refuse to be bound by it. |

June 21 In 1965 Terry Gillespie was in Michigan hugging a radio into the wee hours. He was listening to the skip stations broadcasting from the Southern States; it was his first encounter with the roots of American music. And he's never looked back. |

June 22 What do you do to follow up an eponymous debut solo cd that you produce and release yourself, which successfully distances you from your Bluegrass past, while keeping the roots firmly planted? It also wins you a 2000 Juno award for roots/traditional album of the year: solo. Well, you take a deep breath and thank life for sending you such talented people to work with (Dan Whiteley, Joey Wright, Amy Millan, to name a few). You also get married, have a baby and move to the country from your hometown of Toronto.

June 23 David Myles is a fresh force on the Canadian entertainment landscape who has dared to put it all on the line with this independent release ... creativity, vocal versatility and musical dexterity. Damhnait Doyle has already established herself as an extraordinary vocalist and a powerhouse writer, but Lights Down Low showcases her voice in ways no one has heard before. Her vocal performance is sometimes sultry, sometimes innocent, and always unpredictable. Danny's arrangements and his virtuosity as both a producer and an instrumentalist are the perfect partner to Dav's vocal versatility. Ultimately, Dav and Danny’s unique partnership yielded performances that are playful yet smouldering, fresh yet familiar.

June 24 ZARI is an acclaimed trio of singer/instrumentalists living in Canada who specialize in the music of the Georgian Republic. In early 2003 Shalva Makharashvili (of Rustavi, Georgia) and Torontonians Andrea Kuzmich and Reid Robins joined forces to concentrate their efforts on the exquisite harmony and complex polyphony of this ancient music. By turns exotic, lyrical, and powerful, ZARI brings to the stage three accomplished artists who embody the tradition and improvisational interplay of one of the world's most beautiful musics in it's most transparent form: the vocal trio. Committed to bringing this relatively unknown repertoire into the lives of listeners everywhere, ZARI continues to tour, record CD's, perform on radio and television, offer workshops and sing at charity events and festive gatherings. |
