JP Saxe is a different kind of up and comer in the Toronto music scene. He is not only a singer songwriter and multi instrumentalist who has impressed audiences across Toronto with his lyrical ability and vocal creativity. He is also a strong proponent of positivity, passion and collaboration among the indie music community. Regardless of the audiences’ musical tastes, JP’s lyricism has proven to be universal. JP believes in the power of art to inspire others and his passion for his subject matter is immediately obvious. The songs for his much anticipated debut album currently being recorded were inspired by the last year of JP’s life living both in Toronto and in a rural village in Kenya. It was in Kenya working at a local orphanage for three months that he discovered how his art could inspire others and led him to become part of a movement called “Anton’s Chair.” For more about JP go to www.facebook.com/jpsaxemusic
Ivy James is an award-winning singer-songwriter from Oakville, Ontario. The 16-year-old indie-rocker was named Best Young Songwriter by the Toronto Independent Music Awards in October 2012 and is a finalist for the 2012 Hamilton Music Awards Rising Star Search. Following her 2012 performances at KOI Music Festival in Kitchener, JuneFest at Toronto’s Mel Lastman Square and YouthFest in Oakville, Ivy has been selected to play at Canadian Music Week 2013. Ivy’s debut EP was released in June 2012. It contains six original songs and is available on iTunes, HMV, Amazon and through her website ivyjamesmusic.com.
Rebecca Codas is thrilled to be performing alongside such talented performers in her first cabaret with Micah Barnes. She has been studying vocal and performance technique with Micah for 2 years and is honoured to now share the stage with him. Rebecca’s most exciting accomplishment was being picked out of thousands of hopefuls to be flown down to sing for Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber at his home in Barbados as one of the Top 20 contestants in “Over the Rainbow”. She aspires to be (both professionally and personally) like her inspiration Audra McDonald, but is loud and proud to be her divalicious self. Ok, thank you time! Millions of thank you’s to Micah, Melissa Shriner, Elaine Overholt and Angel Wong; my fabulous teachers. My parents, grandparents, family and friends I cannot thank you ENOUGH for your undying love and support. I am nothing without you all around me. And of course, (and to continue in my bio-tradition) I must include thanks to the Original Broadway Cast of Priscilla Queen of the Desert the musical for helping me to feel confident, accepted, and comfortable in my own skin.
Mike Butler: Armed with a guitar, a half-pint of whiskey and a clinical addiction to good times, pop/country artist Mike Butler may not change music forever, but he’ll have a blast trying! Having played bars, clubs and Kingston in the GTA and Kingston areas for the past decade, his creative blend of “VERY catchy music” and humor has earned him a loyal following. Mike is currently recording his debut EP – check out www.facebook.com/mikebutlermusic.
