Frankie Chavez with opening act Alexandra Boga
Frankie Chavez is one of the most promising talents of the new Portuguese music; he has been referred to as the latest Blues revelation of southern Europe. His music combines a diverse array of sounds resulting in a Blues/Folk composed by clean sounds and others more raw and psychedelic. Although one can identify many different musical influences it is difficult to find one single word to define his music. This sets him with a unique and distinctive style.
Multi-instrumentalist, Frankie Chavez uses several guitars that creates a rich and aggressive
sonority, where nothing is left out of place. Through his warm tone and strikingly intimate lyrics he creates a deep closeness with the listeners.
Alexandra Boga was born in Ponta Delgada, Azores, and started her musical career in Pico Island, where she spent her childhood. After five years studying classical guitar, in Setubal Conservatory of Music, she started to sing several music styles including Jazz, Bossa Nova, Soul to Pop and quickly learned her passion was to build a solo career with original music and lyrics. Mistakes was her first recording, followed by “Sol nas Veias”. The record included songs in English and Portuguese influenced by traditional Azorean music with the special sound of “Viola da Terra”, an instrument of the Azores islands.
