The Blues. Despite the name, blues is not necessarily sad music. It can be happy, funny, melancholy or lewd, but, it is always passionate and alive. Blues artists bring their music from the heart and give us a window into their soul. As a musician, I have always felt the irresistible attraction of the blues and as a painter I have tried to capture the raw, earthiness of the music and sometimes the sheer joy of the musicians who have devoted their lives to performing the Blues. I paint in a loose style mixing directly on the canvas trying to attain a level of immediacy which reflects the timelessness of the blues.
