“At the first rehearsal some years ago it became evident that this was a flute and guitar duo that was destined to work well together. They both bring the strengths from their classical training to bear while James also adds his influence of the jazz world to the mix. Together, the sound they create is a not-so-often heard richness where they can sound like a larger group and also deliver the tender intimacy of the acoustic instruments.
Christopher is the Principal flute of the Toronto Philharmonia, Altus Flutes Artist and prize-winner of the AGIMUS competition in Italy. James is one of Canada’s finest guitarists and composers, adept in both the classical and jazz worlds.
This album’s launch at Hugh’s Room will include the World Premiere Performance of “Mistero” a piece written for them by Los Angeles based composer Christopher Caliendo. Chris and James have also recorded the work on this CD making it the World Premiere Recording.”
